It is with great honor and pleasure to tell you all that this year, 2007, WP finally put up a grand victory at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.  Our sponsored racer, Michael Ell, won the 500 Quad class riding his 2001 Yamaha Banshee, engine built by Wilson Performance.

This his third year on the mountain, Mike made great strides as a rookie his first year up placing 11th on his first attempt.  Last year with the 421cc Cheetah Cub powered engine Mike finished a record third place putting him in the history books for the first time.  Why, he was the first rookie with less than five years of experience on the mountain.  Then this year his 1st place finish did it again in really more than one category.  First rookie and first privateer to finish first.  With so much money and backing going to those who run the mountains as a profession, Mike was able to do it on a shoestring budget and a bullet proof engine under his legs.

Hats off to Mike and his family and all those who supported him along the way!

"Not having any engine worries makes it all the more easier.  As hard as we're running these things, that's a hard statement to say.  With the top three well funded fully sponsored finishers at Pikes Peak for the last two years blowing engines is the norm, with the altitude changes and temperature variations.  WP's engine being the 421 Cheetah Cub easily keeps up with past champions 496 Super Cub motors.  I look forward to having him build me one of them!"
